We are continuously looking into ways to make the office flow better and ways to make things easier on the residents of Blue Mound. I am still working on getting Auto-Pay and eBilling as an option for the residents. I will update all of you when things have progressed.
The information I am wanting to inform the residents on today is two things:
First is our new call directory. Now when you want to reach someone at the Village of Blue Mound you simply call our main office phone number at 217-692-2713 and you will be provided with options to route you to the correct person you are needing to speak to. The options are:
Option #1 - General Office and Billing Questions - This would be the option for any questions related to your bill and other miscellaneous questions regarding building permits, golf cart/UTV permits, etc.
Option #2 - Water/Sewer Maintenance and Emergencies - This would be the option if you need your water shut off, need to report a leak, have your meter checked for high consumption, etc.
Option #3 - Streets and Alleys - This would be the option for anything regarding streets/alleys, burn pile, brush pickup, culverts, etc.
Option #4 - Police Chief - This is the option to reach the Chief of Police.
Option #5 - Patrol Division - This is the option to reach our patrolling police officer.
Option #6 - Village President - This is the option for any questions/concerns for the Village President.
Option #0 - Operator - If you are unsure which option to choose, you can press 0 and your call will be transferred to our main office, and we can either assist or transfer you to the correct person.
***We are hoping this makes it easier for the community to get in contact with the correct person without the confusion of which phone number to contact.***
Second thing is we are going to try utilizing a drive-thru window at the main office to take payments or answer any quick questions. If you know your questions is more complex or would take more time, we would appreciate if you would call or come into the office to avoid blocking the drive-thru/access to the drop box. You are still able to come into the office and utilize our drop box when making payments, but now you are also able to pull up alongside our building to the window right before the drop box and Mackenzie will be able to open the window and take your payments/answer any quick questions through the window as well. This will be good for anyone who would like a receipt but does not want or is not able to get out of their vehicle. There will be a sign in the window stating "drive-thru closed" if our office is closed or if I am ever unavailable to assist customers at the drive-up window. I am not sure how it will go if there is heavy rain/snow so we may have to close the drive-thru if there is inclement weather, but we will play that by ear when it occurs. If the drive-thru is open but I am not at my desk, you may have to give me a minute because I may have had to step away to help another customer in the office. We will see how this goes and I will let everyone know if we have to stop doing the drive-up window if for some reason it does not work out like I am hoping.
