I'm excited to announce a new opportunity for residents to connect with their Police Chief in a relaxed and informal setting.

Beginning this month, I'll be hosting "Chat with the Chief" a couple of Saturdays each month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This is an opportunity for community members to stop by, ask questions, share concerns, provide feedback, or simply have a conversation.

Our first Chat with the Chief will be held this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in our council chambers.

Want to talk about traffic concerns, code enforcement issues, public safety, neighborhood problems, upcoming projects, or even the weather? That's perfectly fine. There is no agenda and no formal presentation, just an open conversation.

Feel free to stop in at any time during the hour and stay as long or as little as you'd like. I look forward to meeting with you, hearing your thoughts, and continuing to strengthen the relationship between the Police Department and our community.

Congratulations to Sgt. Hawkins on completing the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Command Officer Program (LECOP). He earned his Law Enforcement Command Officer Professional designation by successfully completing a series of leadership courses focused on two critical areas: Individual Leadership Skills and Organizational Leadership & Cultural Influence.

This achievement required a tremendous amount of time, discipline, and effort over an extended period.

Sgt. Hawkins began his journey toward this certification in July 2023 by attending the Organizational Leadership, Courage and Character course in Wichita Falls. He continued to pursue additional coursework while ensuring his regular duties were fully completed, and he successfully finished his final course this past week.

The knowledge Sgt. Hawkins gained throughout this program not only developed him as a stronger leader but will also benefit the entire organization as he applies and shares those lessons within the department.

Get outside and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. But don’t enjoy it too much. If your plans include alcohol, make sure you have a sober ride home.

Don’t let a beautiful sunny day end with blue and red lights in your rearview mirror or waking up in a concrete room wondering where the sun went.

We’re proud to share that the Police Department has once again been recognized for our commitment to excellence in online training and policy management. This is the third consecutive year we have received this recognition.

This year, we earned Distinguished status in Lexipol Policy Management and Elite status in Lexipol Training. These achievements reflect the professionalism, dedication, and hard work of every member of our department.

Our very own Officer Aguilar has been selected to receive the 2026 State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Valor.

The State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Awards, conferred annually by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), represents one of the highest honors within Texas Law Enforcement.

This is a significant and well-deserved recognition that reflects exceptional courage and commitment to service.
