We would like to inform the community of the upcoming mock prom crash taking place at Blue Earth Area High School on Wednesday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m.

This educational event will involve local emergency responders, including area ambulance services, fire department, police, and the Sheriff’s Department, along with a Mayo 1 helicopter landing onsite as part of the simulation.

During this time, community members in the area may notice emergency vehicles, flashing lights, sirens, and helicopter activity. Please be aware that this is only a planned training exercise designed to help educate students and prepare emergency personnel for real-life situations.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – FAKE PARKING TICKETS IN MINNESOTA 🚨

There’s a scam going around today, 03/18/26, and has been reported locally and is affecting citizens in Blue Earth.

These are showing up as texts or fake notices that look official, sometimes even using court names, case numbers, or QR codes.

⚠️ Here’s the truth:

Minnesota courts and law enforcement DO NOT text you for payment

They will NOT ask you to pay fines through a link or QR code

These messages are designed to scare you into paying quickly

🚩 Red flags:

Text message about a ticket you didn’t know about

Urgent threats (“pay now or face court”)

QR codes or sketchy links

No real identifying info tied to you

🛑 What to do:

Do NOT click links or scan codes

Do NOT send money or personal info

Delete the message

If you’re unsure, contact the court directly using official numbers

This one is hitting a lot of people right now—check in with family members (especially older relatives) so they don’t get caught by it.

Our partners over at the Blue Earth Fire Department had to move their pancake breakfast because of the winter weather.

We figured we’d help spread the word… like butter on a stack of pancakes.
