|| OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH ||

The Tennessee Cattlemen's Association is proud to promote several opportunities for youth involved in the cattle industry. Currently, applications are being accepted for the TCA/FCMA Youth Beef Heifer Initiative Scholarship, the TCA Outstanding Youth Award, and the 2024 TCA Youth Ambassadors.

We would like to thank teacher, Natasha Conner from Holston Elementary School. She was able to attend our banquet again this year. She teachers her students about soil conservation and keeping the waters clean. She has had students participate in the poster contest for the past nine years. We would also like to thank the rest of the teachers who encourage their students to participate and learn about conservation. Erin Money, Sullivan Gardens Elementary School, Matt Oerly, Sullivan Heights Middle School, Holly Czoka, West Ridge High School, Kerri Sluder, Dobyns Bennett High School, and Frances Sloan-Leu, DB Excell.

We would like to congratulate our poster contest winners who were recognized at our banquet. First place winner for 2nd-3rd grade is Brystol Turner, Sullivan Gardens Elementary School, teacher Erin Money. Second place winner for 2nd-3rd grade is Alex Dimon, Sullivan Gardens Elementary School, teacher Erin Money. First place 4th-6th grade is Arabella Bailey, Holston Elementary School, teacher Natasha Conner, Second place 4th-6th grade is Brady Wood, Holston Elementary School, teacher Natasha Connor. First place 7th-9th grade is Catherine Miller, Sullivan Heights Middle School, teacher Matt Oerly. Second place 7th-9th is Tristan Smith, Sullivan Heights Middle School, teacher Matt Oerly. The Sullivan County SWCD annual awards banquet was held this past Tuesday. We had a successful turnout of around 100 people. There was good company, good music by East High Scool's The Patriot Pickers, and good food by the Cattlemen's Association.
