The City of Bloomington Planning and Transportation Department is launching the Rogers St./Madison St./Kinser Pk. Corridor Study and invites the community to participate in and guide this study. This first step of the study is to understand from you what works well now, what could be improved, and how you feel traveling along and across the corridor.

By working with the community and listening to your lived experience along with analyzing data, this study will recommend both short-term improvements and a long-term vision for this corridor that improves safety for all Bloomington residents. Through this spring and summer, staff will use existing conditions data and public feedback to present a final corridor study to the Transportation Commission that adequately achieves the study vision and goals.

If you are unable to attend any of these events, we encourage you to fill out this online survey about your experience along the corridor: https://bton.in/rmkrs

There’s a good chance we’ll see more snow Thursday night into early Friday, so it’s a good moment to think about your plan for snow removal.

City crews will be working around the clock to keep streets and roads clear. When it comes to sidewalks, we rely on business and residents to clear a safe path for their neighbors.

Everyone has up to 24 hours after the snow stops accumulating to shovel their sidewalks, so there’s some flexibility built in.

If you know someone who might need assistance, the Snow Buddies program connects volunteers with neighbors who are unable to clear their sidewalks due to age or disability. Learn more at bton.in/y7JER.

There will be a free Traffic Incident Management Responder Training on Friday October 24th from 8AM-12PM at Bloomington City Hall (401 N Morton St), led by Indiana TIM.

This training is open to all responders - Communications, EMS, Fire/Rescue, Law Enforcement, Towing & Recovery, DOT, Transportation/Public Works and others. The National TIM Responder Training Program was developed by responders for responders and is designed to help improve responder safety, enhance communication, and reduce roadway clearance times and secondary crashes during traffic incidents. A multi-discipline class for the training is ideal, as it helps bring all responders together for better coordination. By working together, agencies can prevent secondary crashes, protect lives, and keep traffic moving efficiently!

If you are interested in attending this training, please register on the Indiana Public Safety Personnel Portal (Acadis) - class . This class does qualify for the Indiana EMS Commission mandate. If you do not have an Acadis account, the following link provides information on how to obtain a PSID number from IDHS (can take up to 7 days): https://www.in.gov/dhs/fire-and-building-safety/public-safety-identification-psid-application/

Please share this training with responders you know in the area! Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone!
