Community Kitchen Community Kitchen serves anyone in need. We serve meals to anyone in need six days a week from two locations.

Community Kitchen of Monroe County's mission is to work, alone and in collaboration with others, to eliminate hunger in Monroe County and surrounding areas, through direct service, education and advocacy. We also have programs targeting at-risk children and youth, taking meals and healthy snacks to them where they are.

Happy Finally Friday! It has been a busy, busy week. All sorts of things going on at the same time. Fortunately, I have Haley to help me several hours a week. Haley is a Cox Civic Scholar at IU, doing her internship at Community Kitchen. The internships through the Cox Civic Scholar program are 4-year internships. Having Haley with me for four years is such a luxury. Not only has she learned a great deal about Community Kitchen and non-profits in general, but I have been able to observe her growth and I take pride in being part of her IU journey. The Cox Civic Scholar program is amazing and life-changing for students, not to mention the non-profits who benefit from having an intern with them for the duration of their time at IU. What a legacy the Cox family created!

Calling all volunteers! We need help this Sunday (10/25) from 3:00-5:00 at our Family Day event. Family Day is when families with children of all ages can come in and work on a project in our dining room at our main location (1515 S. Rogers St.) that we will use for our Backpack Buddies program. I have space for 3 families to join us. You need to let me know that you are coming by 4:00 Friday so I can get you added to the roster. This is a great way to volunteer with your kids and show them that they can help other kids who are part of our Backpack Buddies program. Share this information with your friends and let's fill this roster up with some enthusiastic volunteers!

Each night, Community Kitchen delivers a warm dinner to the residents of Friend's Place shelter, so the residents there can have dinner at the location where they'll spend the night. This saves them from having to walk down to our facility and then to Friend's Place.

We were co-located with Friend's Place at 917 & 919 S Rogers St for many years and maintain this relationship to feed the folks who are staying there and working on what's next for them. We are glad to be able to help them, in this small way, along their journey.

Happy Friday! There are many reasons that people volunteer and today we want to talk about community service requirements. If you need to complete hours of community service for any entity; an agency, faith-based organization or for a class, you can volunteer at Community Kitchen and we will verify those hours for you. Tell us when you first contact us that you have some hours to complete and let us know who the hours are for. We will need to know how many total hours you have been asked to complete and the deadline. It is important that we know all of this information up front so we can make sure we have the proper paperwork in addition to the website/address/email where we can send the information when you are done. It also ensures the the staff member who needs to sign off on the hours will be available to do so, as not every staff member can verify volunteer hours.

Whatever the reason you have for volunteering at Community Kitchen, we are grateful for your time and support. Volunteers make it possible for us to fulfill our mission and we could not do it without your help!

Come out to Fowler Pumpkin Patch tonight from 6-8pm for Celebrity Karaoke! Among those belting out tunes for Community Kitchen will be Jim Becker, Cailey Doering, Brigette Burns, Elizabeth Tompkins & Angela Williams. Pick your favorite song and join in the fun!

Come out for a nice evening of fall festivities, including the corn maze, hayrides, barnyard animals and Perry's Pumpkin Ale, along with karaoke to support Community Kitchen!
