Our mission is to provide educational, technical and financial opportunities and resources to the residents of Monroe County in regard to soil health, water quality and all things natural resource related, through conservation partnerships.

Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District is open and conducting business as usual.

While our physical office is located in a Federal Building the Federal Government Shutdown did not close our operations.

MCSWCD is a unique partnership of Monroe County and State of Indiana Government, Dept of Ag, Div of Soil Conservation.

Our local office is currently in The Showers Building. Monroe County Government Building, 501 N Morton. Room 211.

As always due to the nature of our business we are often not in the office. It is best to call or email if you want to stop by.

About MCSWCD

Who are we?

The Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a local subdivision of Indiana state government responsible for leadership in the conservation of Monroe County’s natural resources. The district is governed by a board of five supervisors who are county residents. These citizens are elected by their peers and serve without pay for a three-year term.
