It's a beaut Clark! 🚓🚓🚓
On July 22nd, Bloomington Police Officer Clark took to the race track to benefit the Special Olympics Illinois. FIVE-0 Racing is a stock car race hosted by the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics (LETR). 24 officers from across Illinois participated in the event. Race teams needed to raise a minimum of $500 to participate. Officer Clark's team raised $8,295.00! With ticket sales, merchandise, and team fundraisers the event raised more than $190,000.00!!!
As far as the race results? If you are wondering what place Officer Clark finished in… it wasn’t first. We won't quote the great Ricky Bobby here, because that isn't what this is about. Congratulations to all the participants in this huge success of a fundraiser!
The LETR is the single largest year-round fundraising movement benefiting Special Olympics. The Torch Run has two goals - to raise money and to gain awareness for the athletes who participate in Special Olympics. This was just one of the many LETR events Bloomington officers participate in throughout the year. So far this year, our team has raised over $54,600.00.
Special Olympics of Illinois provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
