Last night around 1800 we were called to a residence in district for a structure fire. Dispatch began receiving multiple calls about this fire. Chief upgraded the alarm bringing mutual from Allin Township (Stanford), Mt Hope Funks Grove (McLean), Danvers, Bloomington Township, Randolph Township (Heyworth), and Minier. Thank you to our mutual aid and their members.

Good morning. Today DTFD and several other area fire departments will be conducting live fire training on Stringtown road. If you see smoke in the area and emergency vehicles just know that there is no emergency.

Residents of DTFD and surrounding areas. We are doing a prescribed burn behind and to the east of the Stanford sportsman’s club. There is no emergency if you see a fire out in the field.

More possible significant severe weather is on the way for later this afternoon into this evening. Please be weather wary and have ways to receive weather alerts.

Numerous tornadoes expected across central IL.

A significant escalation has occurred with more instability and moisture being expected. This means more storms are expected to develop and strong shear will lead to an enhanced tornado risk.

If in the yellow circle, prepare for numerous tornadoes including a couple strong ones between 12PM and 8PM.

Have you passed an elevator or farming operation during harvest season and seen something like this?
Grain dryers put off steam when they're working correctly in the fall. It may look like smoke and cause concern for a fire, but steam dissipates while smoke will not. These dryers are temperature controlled and will actually shut off if the temperature gets too high.
When should you call 911?
If you see flames coming out of it or are sure you are seeing smoke rather than steam.

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Tuesday from Noon to 7pm. Please avoid unnecessary burning. Dry and gusty conditions could result in rapid fire spread.

Open burning and contained burning are prohibited until 11/1/24. the relative low humidity and wind can cause fires to rapidly spread. Farmers are encouraged to be cautious while wrapping up harvest to prevent field fires.
