What’s in a name? That which we call a lane by any other name would smell as sweet…

Help us name two new lanes as part of Hopewell South! Submit your proposed names through Tuesday 9/15 using the online form. City staff will review submissions and select finalists for a public vote beginning 9/16 and running through 9/20.

Hopewell South will include 98 new homes, along with new streets, utilities, and other infrastructure. It is the first of three planned phases (South, East, and West) of the larger Hopewell redevelopment project.

The names cannot be last names or the name of any existing road in the County, nor can we accept Roady McRoadface (sorry!).

Beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will close a portion of North Monroe Street south of the intersection of North Monroe Street and West 17th Street to allow crews to complete utility work in the area. To accommodate school traffic in the area and minimize disruptions, crews will complete the project overnight from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Thursday and Friday nights.

Motorists should use alternate routes and are encouraged to use caution while traveling near the work zone. CBU staff will work to minimize disruptions and maintain access to nearby homes and businesses whenever possible. As with all construction activities, the schedule is subject to change based on weather and field conditions.
