Disaster Relief Now Available for Many Hoosiers

Governor Mike Braun has declared a disaster emergency for 63 Indiana counties impacted by severe weather, flooding, tornadoes and the June derecho.

If your primary residence was damaged and you are uninsured or underinsured, you may be eligible for up to $25,000 through Indiana's State Disaster Relief Fund to help with recovery.

-Assistance is available for eligible homeowners
-Applications are now open
-Additional counties may qualify as damage assessments continue

The State Disaster Relief Fund applies only to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured. State funding cannot replace insurance coverage, which is the primary and best source of protection from storm damage. The fund only addresses the costs of repairing, replacing or restoring property that is the primary residence of the applicant, and cannot be used to help pay insurance deductibles.

Important Update in Reference to the American Red Cross Resource Center

The American Red Cross will now be at the Stinesville Community Center (old elementary school) from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Starting Saturday, June 20th, the American Red Cross will be out in the field to visit with the tornado survivors.

If you are in immediate need of assistance, please contact the Red Cross hotline at 1-800-733-2767.

Today is the day! Join the City of Bloomington for entertainment, food, fun, music and community as we commemorate Juneteenth. This event is free to the public and in conjunction with Food Truck Fridays, in partnership with Parks and City of Bloomington, IN - Parks and Recreationation and Community and Family Resources Department. We encourage community members to bring chairs and blankets if they prefer to sit on the lawn.

11:00 a.m. – Event Opens
Food trucks and vendors open

Family-friendly activities and community engagement opportunities throughout the park

12:30 p.m. – Camp S.O.U.L. Matinee Performance
Enjoy a special performance by Indiana University Camp S.O.U.L. students, presented by the Indiana University African American Arts Institute (AAAI).

4:30 p.m. – Community Organizations and Vendors Open
Community organizations and informational booths begin

5:00 p.m. – Beer Garden Opens (21+)
Guests 21 and older may enjoy the beer garden area.

6:15 p.m. – Live Performance by The Lucky Sevens
Enjoy an evening set from local favorite performers The Lucky Sevens.

6:30 p.m. – Community Organizations and Vendors Close
7:15 p.m. – Headlining Performance: Jenn Cristy
The evening continues with a featured performance by Jenn Cristy.

8:30 p.m. – Beer Garden Closes
9:00 p.m. – Event Concludes
Food trucks, vendors, and community activities close for the evening.

Additional Information
All activities take place outdoors at Switchyard Park.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets.

Severe storms hit northwestern Monroe County last night, bringing dangerous winds and heavy rain that damaged homes and knocked down trees and power lines. If you or someone you know has been affected and needs a safe place to stay, the American Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter at the Stinesville Community Center, 7951 Main Street. Please stay clear of damaged areas to keep roads open for first responders.

Key Messages From Press Release

- Please avoid traveling in the rural regions of Northwestern Monroe County outside of Stinesville near Gosport and the southern border of Morgan County until further notice.

- An emergency shelter is open at the Stinesville Community Center (Old Elementary School) for disaster survivors until further notice.

Correction: the address to the Community Center is 7973 West Main Street, Stinesville. The listed address on the press release is to the fire department on the hill next to the Community Center.

The American Red Cross will be present at the Stinesville Community Center between 9 AM to 7PM until further notice.

American Red Cross Shelter Open in Stinesville

If you or your family members were impacted by the severe storms that impacted northwestern Monroe County, a temporary American Red Cross shelter is open where impacted individuals and families can seek assistance and temporary shelter.

The shelter is open now and is located at the Stinesville Community Building (Old Stinesville Elementary School) and will be open to disaster survivors until further notice.

Survivors will need to enter through the back door near the Cafeteria.
