This new program helps Bloomington make practical energy choices that improve comfort and reduce costs, by connecting you to expertise and funding that make it easier for everyone to make energy improvements.

Bloomington Energy Works will drive a public-private partnership plan to develop finance-ready renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. It will also guide residents to programs, rebates, and tools designed to make smart energy savings simple and accessible.

With the winter holidays quickly approaching, consider keeping your gifting local with the Shop Local Bloomington Card! ⛄🎁

The Shop Local Bloomington Card is available for purchase at tinyurl.com/shoplocalbtown.

This card functions like a standard credit card, and can be purchased online and delivered by email or text. Buyers select an amount, send the digital card to a recipient, and the recipient can use it at any participating business. Merchants receive the full purchase value directly through their regular payment processor and do not need special equipment to participate.

Community gift card programs like this one have been shown to generate new revenue for local businesses, encourage customers to explore new stores and restaurants, and provide a simple tool for employers, universities, and civic groups to give locally through employee rewards, event incentives and community giving. Shopping local is also the most sustainable option, eliminating emissions associated with shipping!

Our team was able to collect valuable feedback on the Kirkwood pedestrian closure and learn more about residents' sustainability passions and priorities!

A special thank you to the IU Arts and Humanities Council for having us and for amplifying all of the amazing campus and community arts groups we have here in Bloomington.

As fall turns to winter and the orange and reds of the leaves hit the ground, consider LEAVING the LEAVES!

Fallen leaves provide soil nutrients, natural fertilizer, and wildlife habitat! Rather than raking and bagging your leaves, leave them on your lawn to support natural ecosystems (and get some early fertilization for your spring flowers or veggie garden...)

If you do decide to rake and bag your leaves, the City will be running curbside leaf pickup until December 31st!

Come visit ESD's arts and sustainability teams at this month's First Thursdays festival!

From 4-7pm on November 6th, we will be in the IU Auditorium (as will our friends from the Orbit Room with free hot dogs...) chatting about our work in the Bloomington community.

The IU Arts and Humanities Council is still seeking volunteers for this month's festival! Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt, food and drink, and the undying gratitude of the Arts & Humanities Council. If you're interested, go to tinyurl.com/volthursday!
