📢 **NOTICE TO RESIDENTS – AMENDED PUBLIC CONDUCT ORDINANCE**

At its August 12, 2026 meeting, the Village Board approved Ordinance No. 2026-07, amending Section 6.04 of the Village of Bloomington Municipal Code regarding the obstruction of streets and sidewalks.

Beginning Friday, August 21, 2026, the use of electric/motorized and manually operated bicycles, scooters, skateboards, skates, and similar devices is prohibited on the sidewalks along Canal Street from Mill Street to Pleasant Street.

Individuals using these devices should **dismount and walk them on the sidewalk** while traveling through this area.

This restriction applies to the sidewalks only—Canal Street remains open for bicycle and scooter traffic as otherwise permitted by law.

♿ Mobility devices used by individuals with disabilities are exempt from this restriction.

The purpose of this amendment is to improve pedestrian safety, help prevent collisions, and reduce congestion on the sidewalks in our downtown commercial area.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping keep our downtown sidewalks safe and accessible for pedestrians.
