CANCELLED - DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAIN THIS TRAINING IS BEING POSTPONED TO AN UNDETERMINED DATE.

Towanda Barnes area road closures on Wednesday, 8/5/26, for training. Road closings will begin at 3 pm and should be clear by 10 pm. These training/exercises are crucial to building working relationships between partners and improving response skills.

Today marks the start of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW) 2026—also known as Dispatcher Week. Established by a dispatcher in California, then formalized by Presidential Proclamation in 1994, this week recognizes the professionals behind the headset who are often unseen, but never unimportant.

This is a role that can be faceless and, at times, thankless—but it is one carried out every day and night with pride, professionalism, and purpose. If you know a dispatcher, take a moment this week to check in, reach out, and thank them for what they do for their communities.
