πŸŽ“ Congratulations to the LEAD Class of 2026! πŸŽ“

The Bloomingdale Police Department would like to congratulate all of the students who successfully completed the LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence) Program.

We extend our sincere thanks to Walter T. Bergen School for welcoming our officers into the classroom throughout the school year and providing the opportunity to educate our youth about the dangers of drugs, violence, and negative peer pressure. Through interactive lessons and meaningful discussions, students gained valuable knowledge and life skills that will help them make positive choices both now and in the future.

We are proud of each student for their participation, engagement, and commitment to learning. Thank you to the teachers, staff, and families who supported this important program.

Congratulations again to the LEAD Class of 2026! We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the years ahead.

Today we are proud to recognize Patrolman Tyler Soules for his outstanding commitment to keeping the residents of Bloomingdale safe.
The significance of this Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Award cannot be overstated. This recognition represents more than just enforcement, it represents lives saved, families protected, and tragedies prevented. Every impaired driver removed from our roadways is a potential crash, injury, or fatality that never occurs because of the proactive work of officers like Patrolman Soules.
Chief Greenwood stated, "On behalf of the Bloomingdale Police Department and the community we serve, I commend Patrolman Soules for his dedication to traffic safety and his unwavering commitment to public service. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the Bloomingdale Police Department and Bloomingdale Fire Department responded to a reported garage structure fire on James Street.

Upon arrival, officers observed heavy smoke coming from a detached garage and were informed that two dogs were inside the residence. Fortunately, it was later discovered that no residents were home at the time of the fire, and no civilian injuries were reported. An off-duty Garfield Police Department officer, with the assistance of Bloomingdale police officers, immediately entered the smoke-filled structure and successfully rescued both dogs, as well as a chicken, bringing all three animals to safety.

The Bloomingdale Fire Department, along with neighboring fire departments, worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the residence and surrounding properties, ultimately containing the incident to the garage. Tri-Boro First Aid Squad, Pequannock First Aid Squad, and the Bloomingdale Ladies Auxiliary responded to provide rehabilitation services and support for emergency personnel operating at the scene.

As a result of their actions during the incident, two Bloomingdale police officers were transported to Chilton Hospital for evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation. Both officers are expected to make a full recovery.

Assisting agencies included, but were not limited to, the Butler Fire Department, Kinnelon Fire Department, Riverdale Fire Department, Pompton Lakes Fire Department, and Wanaque Fire Department.

The Bloomingdale Police Department would like to thank all responding agencies for their professionalism, teamwork, and dedication throughout this emergency. The coordinated efforts of all responders helped protect nearby homes, ensure the safety of residents and emergency personnel, and contribute to the successful rescue of the animals.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This afternoon, Mrs. Carmeci and her daughter, Tori, stopped by to surprise Officer Tyler with a special edition Knicks Wrestling T shirt. Mrs. Carmeci wanted to personally thank Officer Tyler and all members of the Bloomingdale Police Department for their dedication to protecting our community.

They also had the opportunity to meet Officer Soules, a lifelong Knicks and wrestling fan, making the gift even more special. Their kindness and support left a lasting impression on our officers.

Thank you, Mrs. Carmeci and Tori, for your thoughtful gesture and continued support of the Bloomingdale Police Department and the community we proudly serve. πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ€Όβ€β™‚οΈπŸš”
