Did you know? Under New York Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) § 375(2)(a) , headlights must be turned on from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise.

The Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. Would like to take this opportunity to reminds motorists that headlights are also legally required whenever visibility drops below 1,000 feet or whenever your windshield wipers are in continuous operation due to rain, snow, or fog. Please help keep our roads safe for everyone by ensuring your lights are on when conditions demand it!

National Weather Service Burlington VT has issued a flood Watch at
242 AM EDT Wed Jul 29 2026

FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT... Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

* WHERE... Portions of northern New York, including the following counties, Essex and Vermont, including the following counties, Addison, Rutland, Windsor, and Orange.

* WHEN... Through this evening.

* IMPACTS... Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Up to 2 inches or rainfall have already fallen Tuesday through Wednesday morning in portions of Vermont. An additional 1-3 inches of rain is expected through Thursday morning in south central Vermont along with the eastern slopes of the Adirondacks in Essex County NY. Locally higher amounts will be possible along the spine of the southern Green Mountains.
