MIADC board along with chair Ashok Baddi and other volunteers and supporters met with Congressman Shri Thanedar over a zoom call. The call was primarily to hear about the incident from Shri, talk next steps and show MIADC’s and the Indian Community’s staunch support to Mr. Thanedar.

A group of Palestine supporters created a ruckus in front of Congressman Shri Thanedar's home at 3:00 am in the night on Monday 12/18/23.

MIADC extended their support to Shri and are going to continue to campaign on his behalf in the upcoming elections. Several leaders from the Indian community also came forward, expressing their concern and extending their support and solidarity.

Shri expressed his happiness and appreciation to receive support and said that he will be not be discouraged by deterrent actions such as these and that his resolve is now stronger than ever. He has stood up for support of Jews and will continue to do so, as per his statement. What happened at his party created an environment of fear and panic and he condemned such acts of violence.

The Michigan Indian American Democratic Caucus (MIADC) leadership election took place in Troy MI on December 2, 2023. MIADC is the Indian American Caucus of the Michigan Democratic Party (MDP)
Ashok Baddi and his slate were elected unanimously. This is the second term for Ashok Baddi as the chair, he previously served as the chair of the MIADC (2019-2021)
The following are the elected members:
Chair: Ashok Baddi
Vice Chair: Prashanthi Rao
Secretary: Rajender Reddy
Treasurer: Nageswara Rao Gandham
Board Members: Dr. Anvita Saini, Venu Sridasyam, Nageswara Raghupatruni, Sridhar Vejandla, Ramya Rachakonda, Prashant Pingili, Jhulan Chatarjee, Murahari Devabathini (Past Chair). Arjun Saini was elected as the Student Member of the board.
Arun Agarwal (Chair 2016-19) functioned as the MIADC election officer and conducted the election as per the MDP rules for voting. The immediate past Chair Murahari Devabathini coordinated the entire event. The event was graced by State Rep. Sharon MacDonell (D-Troy) and Dr Anil Kumar -Board of Governors Wayne State University. A large number of MIADC/MDP members from Metro Detroit and other parts of Michigan attended the event.

MIADC elections took place this morning at the Troy Community Center. Very Happy to announce the new president of MIADC- Ashok Baddi garu, who later addressed the audience on the power of Presence and representation of leaders of Indian origin into American Politics. The group was also addressed by Michigan State Representative Sharon MacDonell who congratulated the new President and showed her support and encouragement to MIADC and the newly elected team.

Ashok Garu, we hope to achieve great heights and stand as a strong support to our community under your leadership!!! Kudos to the elected officials and leaders!!

Dear MIADC member,

The MIADC Officers and Executive Board elections will be held on Saturday, Dec 2nd, 2023.

The location and time will be sent By Nov 1st, 2023.

To be eligible for an Officer or Board member and/or to Vote, you must be a registered MIADC and MDP member by Nov 1st, 2023, in good standing. (Membership dues paid in time (30 days before the election date per MIADC by-laws)

Nominations:
1. Officers: consist of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson (opposite gender), Secretary and Treasurer.
2. Executive Board: consists of a maximum 8 elected members
3. Slate for nomination consists of the names of Officers and Executive Board. There will be One Vote for the entire slate.
4. You must submit your nominations to the Election Committee at [email protected] and CC [email protected] ASAP, latest by Dec 2nd 2023.
5. As per MIADC by-laws, on the election day, an eligible member will be given an opportunity to nominate from the floor
6. You may provide a slate for nomination. Ensure all nominees listed in the slate meet the eligibility requirements. If anyone nominee in the slate didn't meet the eligibility criteria, the entire slate will be rejected.
7. Each nominee will be given one minute to introduce themselves.
8. For Slate, one person will introduce his/her team to save time.
9. MDP Rules for voting are attached.
10: Section 6.2. Since we have to have opposite gender Chair & Vice Chair, we have to have Single Slate voting.
11. Section 5.4 .. With Slate voting, the Winner takes it all. No proportional voting can be used.

62nd annual Philip A. Hart Dinner
The 62 annual Philip A Hart Dinner was a great experience with many pioneers of the modern democratic scene in attendance.

The introductory speech given by Senator Gary Peters really set the mood for the evening, being lighthearted and inspiring at the same time.

Congresswoman Haley Stevens also delivered an essential speech highlighting the values of our actions and the consequences of our inaction. The award ceremony was also impressive highlighting the various positions and achievements achieved by many great politicians around the room.

Among the list of attendees were State Rep Brenda Carter, State Rep Sharon McDonnel, MIADC Chair Hari Devabathini and MIADC board members Ramya Rachakonda, Sridhar Vejandla, Manas Ponnam, Madhuri Agarwal, Arun Agarwal,

Overall, The Phillip A. Hart Dinner was a great dinner showcasing the achievements accomplished by the Democratic Party thus far and what is to come.
