The Afterglow (1925–27) was a monthly lifestyle magazine publishing society news, club activities, and photos of country homes in Bloomfield Hills. Advertisers promoted luxury motorcars, leisure fashions, and exclusive real estate developments.

When first published in March 1925, it carried the tagline “A Bloomfield Hills Magazine” but the scope later expanded to “A Greater Detroit Country Life Monthly.” Last published in December 1927, the only complete set of all 32 printed copies of The Afterglow are housed in the Burton Historical Collection at the Detroit Public Library.

With permission, digital editions were created for the Bloomfield Township Public Library and the Bloomfield Historical Society. Step back in time: Browse The Afterglow and other local history gems now in the BTPL History Collection:
