Speaking on construction, Winston Churchill said “We shape our buildings; thereafter, they shape us.” We're super excited to share the news that concrete footers have been poured for the first-ever bathroom facilities that will be available to Penn Dixie visitors in 2027!🤩 This work is made possible by the generous support of the NY State Assembly, Erie County, NY and Township of Hamburg, NY.🥰

We are grateful to our friends at Explore & More - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum for the gift of wind chimes in remembrance of our staff member, Paul Moretti, who passed away earlier this year. If you visited Penn Dixie at any point in the last 10 years then you probably experienced Paul's passion for science communication firsthand. For the final month of our season the chimes will be ringing at our brown education pavilion to remind us of our colleague.🔔🥰

One of our guests made a truly special discovery last week at Penn Dixie Fossil Park & Nature Reserve—what appears to be a rare spine from a crinoid calyx!

You never know what 380-million-year-old treasures are waiting just beneath the surface.
