On this Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor and remember two of our own, Patrolman Lewis Burdette "Bud" Lee, and Sergeant Daniel Houser Jr. Ptl. Lee was only 47 years old and was with Blanchester PD for only 9 months. Ptl. Lee was shot and killed by a 16 year-old boy that had abducted a 13 year-old girl and was attempting to sexually assault her at gunpoint on September 30, 1949.

Sgt. Houser was only 39 years old, and served with the Blanchester Police Department for 5 years at the time of his death. On April 6, 1969, Sgt. Houser was on patrol around 3:30am in a cruiser on E. Main Street when he suffered a fatal heart attack.

Today, and every day, we remember and honor all law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. We also honor and thank the family members, friends and fellow officers who carry on their legacy.
