PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE – BLANCA POLICE DEPARTMENT
To help improve safety along Main Street (Hwy 160), the Blanca Police Department will be installing speed enforcement cameras in January 2026.
During a one-week traffic study (Sept. 21–27) in the 40 mph posted speed limit zone, 46,533 vehicles were recorded in the area:
• 309 vehicles were traveling 10+ mph over the speed limit
• 137 vehicles were traveling 15+ mph over
• 83 vehicles were traveling 20+ mph over
• The highest recorded speed was 87 mph
After installation, there will be a 30-day warning period where warnings will be issued only.
After the warning phase, citations will begin.
This program focuses on pedestrian safety and reducing excessive speeding through our community. Thank you for helping keep Blanca safe!

Maintenance Worker I

This is an entry-level position pay is hourly, 32 hours a week.
Qualifications: Knowledge of practices in:
a. Construction, maintenance and repair of water and/or wastewater systems; use of hand tools
b. Ability to prepare and maintain simple records;
c. Ability to perform strenuous physical work for extended periods of time in all weather conditions;
d. Ability to recognize and report abnormal operating functions of assigned equipment;
e. Ability to learn to operate various equipment, which may include heavy construction equipment;
f. Requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently. Physical demands of work require walking or standing to a significant degree.
Education: High school or GED and preferred some vocational, high school or equivalent training.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years manual labor or mechanical maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Special Requirements: A Class C driver’s license and availability for on-call duty is required. Back ground check is required.
