BURN BAN STILL IN EFFECT

Even though our area has received some recent rainfall, the burn ban remains in effect for:

• City of Blakely
• Early County

Outdoor burning is still prohibited until further notice.

These restrictions are in place to protect lives, property, and our community from wildfires.

Please do your part:

* ❌ Do NOT burn yard debris or trash
* ❌ Do NOT start outdoor fires
* ✅ Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community safe.

🌿🔥 Mow Smart to Prevent Wildfires

Routine yard work can unintentionally spark a wildfire if conditions are too dry or windy.

✔️ Mow before 10 a.m. when conditions are cooler
✔️ Avoid mowing during windy or excessively dry weather
✔️ Use lawnmowers only for lawns—not weeds or dry grass
✔️ Watch for rocks—metal blades striking them can create sparks

A little awareness goes a long way in protecting Georgia’s landscapes.

One Less Spark, One Less Wildfire.

South Georgia is under a mandatory burn ban. This includes prescribed burning. If you see ANYONE burning ANYTHING, call and report it. This also includes burning in barrels or in a fire pit within the City Limits of Blakely. There is no burning at all we cannot emphasize this enough. If you look at the news and see what is happening in Brantley County and Clinch County you will understand why. Multiple home and multiple acres are on fire. Please we ask you and urge you to follow this Order or you can and will be given a citation.

The City of Blakely Fire Department would like to Thank our own City Electrician Stephen Welch for setting up a great and much needed training for substation safety to First Responders. We would like to also Thank MEAG Power for sending Rene Cowarts to come down and give us his knowledge and experience on substation safety and how they operate. Coordinating training and response efforts across departments makes us stronger as a City. We appreciate everyone involved and thank you for your time and effort to make Blakely Better Together!
