Update: I just saw another post. Apparently, there was a second young man injured in last night’s game. Both boys are doing much better. Prayer works!

One of our own was flown out of the game by helicopter last night. Please, stop what you are doing and take just 5 minutes to say a prayer for this young man and his family. I truly believe that God can heal him.

UPDATE: We have some very encouraging news this morning concerning the two Union County players injured during last night’s game 💜

According to an update shared by a player’s father, Sir was taken to Gainesville, where his CT scan came back clear. He does have a significant concussion but in true competitor fashion, he is already telling Coach, “I’ll be back in 2 weeks!”

The news concerning Braxton has also continued to improve throughout the night.

His father shared:

“I wanted to let y’all know how Braxton and Sir are. Sir went to Gainesville and his CT was clear! Has a bad concussion but says Coach I’ll be back in 2 weeks!

Braxton was airlifted to CHOA. As the night progressed I got better and better news. At 2:00, he could bend his knees, at 4:00 he had feeling in all legs. At 9:00, he said I walked around!

Only thing Braxton is worried about is they destroyed my jersey! Lol

Like Sir, Braxton says I can’t wait to play again!”

After such a frightening night, those are words everyone across Panther Nation and far beyond will be thankful to hear.

His father also shared how many people from across the state have reached out to check on these young men and asked everyone to continue praying for their recovery.

We are incredibly thankful for this encouraging update and for every coach, trainer, first responder, medical professional, family member, teammate, fan, and community member who surrounded these young men with care last night.

Please continue to keep Sir and Braxton in your thoughts and prayers as they recover.

PLEASE KEEP A UNION COUNTY STUDENT ATHLETE IN YOUR PRAYERS 🙏

The Union County community is coming together this morning after a Union County High School football player suffered a serious injury during Friday night’s game in Toccoa. The player, Braxton, was transported by medical helicopter after emergency personnel responded at the stadium in Stephen’s County. Union County had traveled to Stephens County for Friday night’s varsity football game.

Out of respect for Braxton and his family, Cherokee Broadcasting will not speculate about the extent of his injuries. We are seeing many people across the area asking for prayers and that is where our hearts are this morning 💜

Please keep Braxton, his family, his teammates, coaches, classmates, and everyone who witnessed and responded to the incident in your thoughts and prayers 🙏

Friday night football means a great deal in our mountain communities but moments like this remind us that these young men are more than players on a field. They are our children, our neighbors, our friends, and part of the communities we all share.

Panther Nation we are thinking of you! Please say a prayer for Braxton today 🙏
