The Murphy Lot Visioning Project is run by a group of volunteers who are passionate about bringing a new park to the corner of Stewart and Market Streets in Blairsville, PA. The team has established detailed plans for development of a park; the central focal point, a fountain, which will utilize a large fluted sandstone column, an artifact salvaged from a beautiful local bank demolished years ago.

The park will incorporate sculptural installations, native plantings, and seating areas which will be inviting for both residents and visitors to downtown businesses. We invite you to support the development of this new park in the heart of downtown Blairsville. This project is in collaboration with Friends of Blairsville Communities and the Blairsville Community Development Authority.

These very special ladies decided to gather in the park for a picnic lunch today. If you don’t already know them personally, they are all members of “The Market Street Gang” and you may have seen them working hard this summer (and for many prior years) planting, weeding and tending all the beautiful flowers that grace our streetscape. Our town is very fortunate to have these ladies, as well as the rest of their “gang” volunteer to keep Blairsville blooming! Three cheers to The Market Street Gang for all you do - THANK YOU! There’s still plenty of room if you’d like to purchase an engraved brick! You can do so by visiting www.murphylotproject.org or by picking up a donation form from the box in front of the park! We still have some sanding to do to offset settling but have no fear, the walkway will look perfect 👍🏻

Thank you to whomever has added to our collection of books in the Park’s sharing library! The library was generously donated by Dr. Phil and Jean Losco and painted and shingled by Bob Wiley. (Donor plaque is not yet attached because we have some additional painting and embellishments to finish). 📕

We were so excited to see our first visitors to the park this morning after the fencing was taken down! Bob Fairbanks (L) and Don Nadzadi (R) decided to sit a spell on the beautiful bench donated by Don and his wife Jennifer who have been supporters of this project in various ways from its beginnings.

Bob and his wife Joy have been great supporters of this project as well, with not only monetary donations but two beautiful sculptures that grace the park’s gardens, one, an original work by Joy, herself.

So many donors have been involved in making this park a reality and we are incredibly grateful. You will see their names on bricks, various amenities and acknowledgements. Just because the park is open, however, that doesn’t mean it’s finished. It will always be a work in progress. We will be accepting donations on an ongoing basis for future projects and upgrades and of course, maintenance. Volunteers are always welcome as well!

Come on in and enjoy the park!
