"Hi! I'd like to formally announce that I was NOT driving."
Contrary to what the evidence might suggest, I was simply riding along, minding my own business, when my human made some very poor life choices.
Unfortunately, those choices included driving under the influence. The driver of this vehicle was arrested by Blair Police officers for DUI after causing a crash that sent two people to the hospital. The driver's blood alcohol concentration was well above the legal limit.
The good news? I wasn't injured. I was scared and confused, but Blair Police Officers made sure I was safe, and I was turned over to the Blair Animal Shelter for care.
The not-so-good news is that this crash was completely preventable.
Driving impaired doesn't just put your life at risk. It puts the lives of innocent motorists, passengers, pedestrians, first responders, and even the pets who trust you to take care of them at risk.
Today, two people went to the hospital because someone chose to drive after drinking. Next time, the outcome could be far worse.
Because while this little pup got a second chance, not everyone involved in a drunk driving crash does.
