Still making payments on that hatchback? You'll definitely want to find a way to park it indoors before going to bed tonight.

⛈️ OVERNIGHT SEVERE THREAT (3 AM - 6 AM):
Wind-blown, tennis ball-sized hail (up to 2.5") is capable of producing destructive damage to vehicles and roofs overnight. The highest risk sits across east-central and southeast Nebraska, specifically impacting areas south of Columbus, north of Lincoln, and near Omaha.

⚠️ MORE THAN JUST HAIL: While very large hail is the main threat, these overnight storms are also capable of producing damaging winds, flash flooding, and a tornado or two.

🚨 WHAT TO DO: Since these storms are moving through while most people are asleep, please ensure your NOAA Weather Radio is on and your smartphone alerts are turned UP so you can be awakened if a warning is issued for your area.

📢 You asked, we listened!

At last night’s City Council meeting, two new public safety measures were approved to help improve safety and emergency response times throughout our community.

🚫 New No Parking Areas
Following a public safety incident earlier this year, the City Council approved new no-parking zones to ensure emergency vehicles can safely and quickly access the area without delays.

The new no-parking areas include:
• North side of Meadow Drive, beginning 235 feet west of 23rd Avenue and extending eastward to that point.
• North side of Meadow Drive, beginning 185 feet east of 23rd Avenue and extending westward to that point.
• West side of North 24th Street, beginning 126 feet south of Meadow Drive and extending northward to that point.

🛑 New Four-Way Stop
Council also approved converting the intersection of 12th Street and Park Street from a two-way stop to a complete four-way stop to improve traffic safety.

⚠️ New signs will be installed in the coming days after all required utility locates have been completed.

Thank you to everyone who continues to share concerns and feedback. Your input helps make Blair a safer community for all.

A bag and a separate set of keys were found after Washington County Gateway to the West. If you think one of these items may belong to you, call or stop by the Chamber to describe and claim.

Severe storm potential returns today. A few isolated afternoon and evening storms are possible before a storm complex pushes across northeast Nebraska into the early overnight period. The primary hazard will be damaging wind gusts (up to 75 mph), though isolated pockets of hail & a tornado can’t be ruled out.

🎆 Blair's 4th of July Fireworks Have a New Home! 🎆

The City of Blair is excited to announce that our annual Independence Day Fireworks Show will take place at a new location in 2026, the area between the Youth Sports Complex and Blair Cemetery.

We're working closely with our fireworks vendor, today's announcement is just the beginning, and we'll be sharing additional information in the coming weeks.

📍 New Launch Location: Northwest corner of the Blair Cemetery

⚠️ Please note:
• The Blair Cemetery will be closed during the event for public safety.
• The exact closure time is still being determined and will be announced once finalized.

We know this is a change from previous years, and we're excited about the opportunities this new location provides for spectators, parking, and community activities.

Stay tuned for more details, maps, parking information, viewing locations, and event updates.
