Ever wondered what happens inside your local fire station?

The Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Mounds View Fire Dept. is opening four participating stations on Saturday, September 26, from 10AM to 1PM for an open house event.

Meet local firefighters, explore fire trucks and emergency equipment, tour the stations, ask questions, and get a behind-the-scenes look at where firefighters train and prepare for emergencies.

Participating stations:

Station 1: 1710 County Highway 10, Spring Lake Park
Station 3: 11920 Ulysses Street NE, Blaine
Station 4: 2 East Road, Circle Pines
Station 6: 1880 Main Street, Centerville

Visit all four open houses for a chance to win a prize.

Grab the blankets.
Finding Nemo is coming to the park!

Movie in the Park is happening Saturday, September 19, at the Aquatore Park Bandshell. Bring the family, grab a blanket or some lawn chairs, and settle in for a free night under the stars.

We will have kids activities starting at 6:30PM, with the movie getting underway around 7:30PM. And yes, the whole evening is free.

It has been a while since we have done a movie in the park, so we hope you will come out and help us make this a fun night for the whole family.

We remember the thousands who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We honor their lives, hold their loved ones in our hearts, and remember the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and others who served that day.

Today, flags across Blaine serve as a reminder that we will never forget.

The Blaine Police Department and Anoka County Libraries are launching "CommunityConnect: Community Resource Hours".
A free monthly opportunity to connect with local support services.

The first session is Thursday, September 17, 1PM to 3PM at the Johnsville Library. No appointment is needed.
Just stop by and get connected with resources for housing, mental health, food, employment, parenting, substance use, older adults, and more.

MEA break is coming, and this is not your typical two-day adventure.

Blaine’s Junior Citizens Academy returns October 15 and 16, giving local high school students a behind-the-scenes look at police and fire operations.

Students will spend a day with SBM Fire Department and a day with the Blaine Police Department, taking part in hands-on activities including simulated traffic stops, search and rescue demonstrations, ladder operations, fire extinguisher practice, and more.

The free program is limited to 20 students, so early registration is encouraged.

October 15-16 | 9AM-4PM
Free for high school students who live or attend school in Blaine

Have a say in Blaine's future.
The deadline to apply for the 2050 Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee is coming up.

Applications are due Thursday, September 10.

The committee will help review ideas and provide community input as the City updates its long-range plan.
Members will meet 8 to 10 times on the fourth Tuesday of the month, beginning in October.

You can also get involved by:
• Stopping by Oktoberfest on October 3 from Noon to 5PM to learn more and share your vision for Blaine.
• Signing up for email updates to hear about future surveys and open house events.
