Update to the burn ban.

🔥 BURN BAN UPDATE! Stage 1 Now in Effect

The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office has reduced outdoor burning restrictions from Stage 2 to a Stage 1 Burn Ban, effective 8:00 AM this morning due to increased fuel moisture levels.

✅ Recreational fires are now allowed

❌ Yard debris and land-clearing burns are still prohibited

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost and the lives forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, the memories of that day are still fresh for many of us. We honor all those who lost their lives in the attacks, including firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and others who ran toward the danger to help others.

We gathered with our brothers and sisters to the north, at the Peace Arch State Park. First responders and elected officials from Canada and the US shared insights from that fateful day.

Meeting with our neighbors reminds us not only of our shared bond but also of service, unity, and courage.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, Blaine officers were requested to assist the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office with an active shooting in Birch Bay. Multiple Blaine Officers responded to assist and helped in the investigation and apprehension of one of the suspects.

This incident highlights the importance of teamwork from the multiple agencies involved in critical incidents like this.

We would also like to point out the amazing work from our dispatchers at Whatcom County 911. Their calm voices handled numerous 911 calls and provided critical suspect information for law enforcement.

Tomorrow is the big day. School is back in session for all of our Blaine !! We cannot wait for another fun and safe school year. Blaine School District, WA

Drivers - remember the speed limit during school zone times is 20 mph. Luckily, there are flashing lights to help remind you. Also, pay attention and follow the directions of school crossing guards.

Pedestrians - remember to look both ways when crossing the street, and use marked crosswalks.
