🚨 IMPORTANT TRAFFIC SAFETY UPDATE 🚨

Stop sign cameras are now in use in school zones throughout the Town of Bladensburg! Beginning today, drivers will receive warnings for 15 days. After the warning period, violations may result in citations.

🛑 Remember: A complete stop is required at every stop sign. Please slow down, stop completely, and stay alert.

📍 Current monitored locations:
• 57th Avenue northbound / 58th Avenue
• Emerson Street westbound / 57th Avenue
• Tilden Road eastbound / 53rd Place

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the September 11, 2001 attacks, and honor the first responders who bravely ran toward danger to save others.

We remember the victims, their families, the survivors, and the heroes whose sacrifice forever changed our nation.

25 years later, their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

⚡️ POWER RESTORATION UPDATE ⚡️

Pepco crews are working hard to restore power and repair the affected traffic signals.

They are hoping to have the intersections at 55th Ave & Tilden Road and Annapolis Road & Edmonston Road in the Town of Bladensburg back in working order sometime Sunday.

Please continue to use caution when traveling through these areas and treat any non-functioning traffic signals as a four way stop.

Severe thunderstorms brought strong winds, heavy rain and lightning to our region overnight, causing damage to trees and electrical equipment across the Pepco service area.

All available Pepco crews and contractor partners are working to safely assess damage and restore service as quickly as possible.

⚠️ Stay away from downed power lines and damaged equipment. Always assume a downed wire is energized.

Report outages or downed wires at pepco.com/storm, through the Pepco mobile app, or by calling 1-877-PEPCO-62. Customers can also text OUT to 48710 (text ADD OUTAGE first to enroll).
