Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a day that changed countless lives forever. On this 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we remember the lives lost and honor the families, parents, teachers, students, first responders and communities whose lives were forever changed.

In the days that followed the 9/11 attacks, schools and families faced the difficult task of helping children understand and cope with such a tragedy. National PTA responded by launching its Helping Children Cope with Tragedy website within 24 hours, publishing The Resiliency of the Human Spirit: Helping Families, Communities, and the Nation Heal, and establishing Wreath of Remembrance Day to honor the victims and their families.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to believe in the power of community and helping children navigate difficult moments.
