‼️ The Board of Education Operations, Budget & Fiscal Affairs Committee meets on Wednesday, September 16th, at 6:00pm.

I will serve on this committee for my final months on the Board of Education during this critical time for transportation, the Educational Facilities Master Plan review, and preparations for the School Year 2027-28 Budget Process. I encourage District 3 school communities to engage at the Committee, Board Meeting, and Public Hearing level in the coming months.

From January-June 2027, engage in the Annapolis and County Council Legislative Advocacy to stop the projected $100 million cut to PGCPS funding and to demand school construction funding beyond the trickle that funds about 1-2 schools a year and some HVAC projects. We need a 2027 version of the Built to Learn Act. This funding is 100% in the power of your Governor, Senators, and Delegates, and County Council. The Board can only advocate with you and has no revenue and taxation authority. We will find our bold allies in Annapolis and work together on behalf our children. I'll be with you as a parent advocate from Northwestern High School during this time.

WEATHER ALERT — All Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) schools will be closed Friday, September 4, due to early morning storms that have left a large number of schools and offices without power.

Downed trees and power lines are also impacting recovery efforts.

12-month employees should report to work on time but are eligible for liberal leave. A list of impacted sites will be available on pgcps.org.

Please continue to monitor email, text alerts, the PGCPS website, and our social media channels for the latest information.
