The only PreWOC class of 2020 was held 21-23 August at Fort Pickett, VA. 32 potential WOCS Candidates attended the drill weekend and experienced a taste of what they would endure if they chose to move forward and attend the WOCS program. Candidates conducted PRT, a foot march, attended instruction, held leadership positions in the class, and created their own class song. Candidates were evaluated by the WOCS TAC Staff who provided guidance on each Candidates strengths and weaknesses in regards to attending the WOCS. At the conclusion of the weekend the class presented their class song to CW5 Joseph Puckett, the VA CCWO. CW5 Puckett awarded coins to the first recipient of the "CW2 Kenneth Hall Motivation Award" and the Candidate who was voted by their classmates to receive the "Leadership Award".

WOCS Class 20-001

The last three days have been critical as Class 20-001 approaches the last evaluated events of Phase 2 and their much anticipated graduation day. Academics has concluded. All Candidates scored well on their second exam of Phase 2, and we’re happy to report that everyone was a first time GO! Special thanks to all of the instructors of The Virginia WOCS who put in countless hours of planning and preparation to provide quality instruction to the candidates, ensuring their success. PRT has also taken a turn as the candidates conducted a Class vs. Staff Kickball Game on Day 9 followed by the WOC Olympics on Day 10. WOC Olympics is a WOCS Tradition comprised of multiple team-based events such as Relay Races and Ultimate Frisbee. Day 11 brings Class 20-001 to the Land Navigation portion of Phase 2. Today they received instruction on map reading and terrain analysis prior to moving out to their planned Land Navigation Site to conduct a Land Nav Practical Exercise. Tomorrow they will move to the same area to be evaluated on their ability to effectively plot and navigate to 4 separate points using only a map, compass, and protractor. We have no doubt that the entire class will expertly accomplish their mission and begin preparing for their next event which is the Leadership Reaction Course on Thursday!

Families - we are sorry we had to take your Candidates away for Father's Day! It is a beautiful day here at Fort Pickett. The class is currently sitting with their TAC Officers conducting what we call "LDP" - the Leadership Development Program. This is when we really get a chance to interact with them in a more relaxed setting and talk about topics to make them better leaders! They finished up their last testable block of academic instruction earlier this afternoon. There will be a lot of studying today with an exam tomorrow morning!
