The 1st Medical Recruiting Battalion is hosting the virtual “Future Army Medical Officer Career Mentorship Week” from March 18th to 22nd, 2024. This event offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with Army Medical Officers and gain a firsthand understanding of their roles in healthcare while serving our nation.

Event Highlights:
•Hear directly from a diverse panel of Army Medical Officers about their journey and experiences.
•Gain insights into the daily operations within the Army medical field.
•Learn about the Direct Commissioning Course and Basic Officer Leaders Course.
•Participate in a Q/A session with each board member, where you can ask your burning questions and get real, honest answers.

Our Army Healthcare Recruiting Station recently had the pleasure of speaking to LewisGale Hospital Montgomery GME on the great opportunities the Army has to offer for Physicians interested in serving full time or part time.

Colonel Phil Zapanta, MD, FACS joined the team to present a class on Sleep deprivation mitigation and share his experience as a Army Reserves Physician.

Overall the event was a huge success. Excited to continue to connect with local Graduate Medical Programs in the .

Happy Friday!!! What a great way to close out a busy week by conducting the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). The team came together and made a pact to score 500 and above. The Blacksburg Bears 🐻 collective scored a station average of 536!!! Everyone score 510 and above. Now that’s how you smash the ACFT Team! Way to lead by example!

Meet First Lieutenant Stephanie Peterson. 1LT Peterson is an exemplary example of what is takes to be an Army leader who continues to go after her career goals while serving in the Army Reserves. Stephanie is a Soldier, Leader, Mother, and now a Critical Nurse in the Army. As a former Drill Sergeant who devoted her time to train and mentor Soldiers to be tactically and technically proficient; Stephanie simultaneously completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from Radford University.

While serving as a Nurse at Carilion New River Valley Hospital, Stephanie knew she always wanted to serve as a Critical Care Nurse in the Army Reserves. Today she is living proof of whatever you put your mind to, you can achieve.

We are beyond proud of Stephanie and happy we could be apart of her journey. Continue to rise to the challenge!
