We service federally enrolled Native Americans and/or people that may not be enrolled, but can prove they are direct descendants to a federally enrolled parent. Our goals at the Ho-Chunk Nation 477 Federal Program are to:
♦ Reduce the unemployment rate of tribal members in our service area.
♦ Provide training to enable participants to advance in job opportunities.
♦ Improve the effectiveness of em
ployment and training services. We have a 39 county service area in Wisconsin:
Adams, Buffalo, Chippewa, Clark, Crawford, Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Dunn, Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, Grant, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Juneau, La Crosse, Lafayette, Lincoln, Marathon, Marinette, Marquette, Monroe, Pierce, Pepin, Price, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Shawano, St. Croix, Taylor, Trempealeau, Vernon, Walworth, Waushara, and Wood counties. We provide the following services to those that qualify:
♦ Limited Term Training (LTT) Program: Provides training experience in a work setting.
♦ Classroom Training (CRT) Program: Provides classroom training to increase employability in field of interest.
♦ Youth Vocational Exploration (YVE) Program: Provides training/work experience and primarily assists those participants that are working towards their GED/HSED/High School Diploma.
♦ Supportive Services: Provides financial assistance to those beginning employment and covers basic needs, i.e. gas vouchers, safety equipment and/or uniform needed to begin working. You will need to provide the necessary identification and documentation required to qualify for the program before you will officially be a participant. What to bring to your intake appointment:
♦ Tribal ID (or Tribal ID of parent and birth certificate)
♦ Driver's License/State ID/Social Security Card
♦ Address Verification (if address is different than ID)
♦ Copy of High School Diploma/GED/HSED (unless currently enrolled in classes, or are 55 years or older.
♦ Resume (if you do not have one, you will be able to create one)
