Are you and your neighbors prepared for wildfires? Share your thoughts on preparedness, evacuation plans, and community readiness in Gilpin County's Community Wildfire Protection Plan resident survey, https://buff.ly/3Le1ofB , by October 1st.
Gilpin County has taken proactive measures to protect its communities and infrastructure from wildfire hazards by contracting SWCA Environmental Consultants to develop an updated Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) set for release in early 2025.
The goal of a CWPP is to recommend strategies for hazardous fuels reduction, public outreach and education, structural ignitability reduction, and improved fire response capabilities. By addressing these areas, the County aims to heighten the safety of its residents and critical infrastructure in the face of potential wildfires. The CWPP will serve as a guiding document that will assist Gilpin County, partnering organizations, and landowners in making informed decisions with respect to wildfire preparation and management.
Public input is a crucial aspect of CWPP development and ensures the actions recommended in the plan suit the current and future needs of Gilpin County and its communities. An online survey has been provided to allow community members to communicate their preferences and concerns regarding wildfire risk and response. Please take 10-15 minutes to complete this survey no later than October 1st, 2024. Responses are anonymous unless you wish to include your contact information for future notifications about the plan. All collected responses will be used to inform the CWPP and we thank you for your participation.
