Day 3 of the 2026 Junior Police Academy is complete, and our cadets are officially halfway through the week!

The morning started with some fun and competition during PT as cadets faced off in a full-court dodgeball tournament before loading up on a bus and heading to Tulsa Tech. There, cadets had the opportunity to train on the Multiple Interactive Learning Objectives (MILO) simulator alongside the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. Cadets learned firearm safety fundamentals while sharpening their decision making skills, to include defending themselves from zombies!

After lunch, cadets returned to the classroom for a presentation from the Detective Division covering crime scene processing, investigations, and the critical role evidence plays in solving crimes. Cadets got an inside look at the detailed work detectives perform behind the scenes on a daily basis.

They closed out the day performing practicals for the traffic stop class they learned about yesterday.

Another outstanding day of learning, teamwork, and hands on experience for these cadets, and we’re excited to finish the second half of the week strong!

Day 2 of the 2026 Junior Police Academy was packed with learning and real world experiences for our cadets at the Bixby Police Department.

Cadets started the morning with stretching and physical training before spending time with our SWAT Team for demonstrations and hands-on activities. The day then moved into classroom instruction focused on driving safety, internet safety and the importance of protecting not only themselves, but also their friends and family from online predators and scams. Our detectives discussed how frequently crimes involving the internet impact our community and the important role awareness plays in prevention.

To wrap up the day, cadets received exciting real-world demonstrations from our K9 and Drone Units, giving them a closer look at the tools and technology officers use to help keep the community safe.

Another great day of learning, teamwork, leadership, and great food cooked just for us is complete, and we’re proud of the effort these cadets continue to show each day!

⚠️ TRAFFIC ADVISORY ⚠️

The Bixby Police Department is advising motorists of a major raised section of the roadway affecting the westbound lanes just east of 151st Street and Harvard.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has been notified and crews are en route to repair the issue.

Type III barricades have been placed in the area to help direct traffic and protect motorists and workers on scene.

Please use caution, slow down, and pay close attention to traffic cones, barricades, and construction personnel while traveling through the area. Expect delays and consider alternate routes if possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while repairs are being made.

Day 1 of the 2026 Junior Police Academy is in the books for the Bixby Police Department, and our cadets started the day strong by taking on the official CLEET physical agility course!

Throughout the day, cadets learned squad organization, formations, teamwork, and participated in ice breakers designed to build communication and trust with one another. They also received valuable life-saving instruction from our EMS Chief.

The day wasn’t just about training, it was also about service. Cadets helped school staff move new TVs into classrooms, learning firsthand that law enforcement officers are also public servants who work to support their community in many different ways.

We’re proud of the effort, teamwork, and positive attitudes shown by all 18 cadets today and look forward to another great day tomorrow!

[Bixby, Ok] – [05/30/2026
Media Release: Fatality Collision

On May 30th, 2026, at approximately 2:20 P.M., Bixby Police Officers responded to an injury collision between a motorcycle and an SUV located at South 53rd East Avenue and State Highway 67 (East 151st Street South).

When first responders arrived on scene, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased. At this time, we are not releasing any information about the deceased until family and loved ones have been notified. This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be provided at a later time.

The Bixby Police Department sends our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Please join the Bixby Police Department in congratulating Officer Quindt on her graduation from the Oklahoma CLEET Police Academy this past Thursday.

Officer Quindt is now a certified police officer and has officially begun her Field Training Program, where she will continue developing the valuable skills and experience necessary to serve and protect our community.

Congratulations, Officer Quindt, and best of luck as you begin this exciting next chapter in your law enforcement career!

The partnership between the Bixby Police Department and the Bixby Fire Department has always been built on teamwork, trust, and a shared mission of protecting our community. When seconds matter, saving lives is truly a joint effort.

As technology and emergency medical response continue to advance, having the right equipment readily available can make all the difference during a cardiac arrest event.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Bixby Fire Department for the donation of these new AEDs. This donation places 6 additional AEDs into patrol vehicles 24/7, giving our officers another critical tool to help provide life-saving care before patients can reach advanced medical treatment

🚨 TRAFFIC REMINDER FOR BIXBY BBQ & BLUES 🚨

As everyone heads out to enjoy Bixby BBQ & Blues at Washington Irving Park on May 14th, 15th, and 16th, we want to remind motorists that NO LEFT TURNS to or from the entrances off US 64 (Memorial) will be permitted during the event.

These traffic patterns are not new and are in place to help keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently for everyone attending. Please follow posted signage, use designated turn-around locations, and be patient with fellow drivers and pedestrians.

Most importantly come out, enjoy the music, grab some food, and have a great time with the community!

If you see us out there, stop by the Command Post, say hi, and challenge us to a game of corn hole. We look forward to another safe and fun weekend in Bixby!
