📢 National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in Bixby!

The Bixby Police Department has partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for our semi-annual Drug Take Back event. Protect your home and community by safely disposing of unneeded, unwanted, or expired medications.

🗓 Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Walgreens — 15111 S Memorial Dr, Bixby, OK

What to bring:
Prescription medications
Over-the-counter pills
Pet medications
Free, anonymous, and no questions asked. (Please note: Needles, sharps, and liquids are typically not accepted.)

Keep unused medications out of the wrong hands and out of our water supply. See you there, Bixby! 💙

The Bixby Police Department is proud to announce that we have earned accreditation through the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (OLEAP).

This accreditation recognizes law enforcement agencies that meet established professional standards and best practices for effective operations, policies, training, and accountability.

Achieving accreditation required a comprehensive review of our agency’s policies, procedures, training, and operations to ensure we meet or exceed Oklahoma’s professional law enforcement standards.

We are proud of the hard work our team put into this process and remain committed to providing professional, accountable, and effective law enforcement services to the Bixby community.

[UPDATE FROM RELEASE BELOW 9/17/26 08:07 P.M.]

E 151st St S is now clear and back open. There are no other updates at this time.

[MEDIA RELEASE]

On September 17th, 2026, at approximately 3:57 P.M., Bixby Police Officers were dispatched to E 151st St S and S Hudson Avenue for an automobile fire with an individual still inside. When first responders
arrived on scene, they located a collision between two vehicles, one of which was on fire. The individual was pronounced deceased on scene. The individual in the other vehicle was transported by the Bixby
Fire Department to the hospital. The Bixby Police Department accident reconstruction specialists are on scene conducting an investigation. At this time, we will not be releasing the names of the parties
involved until next of kin have been notified. We have no other information at this time but will provide updates as we receive them. Since the collision is under investigation, E 151st St S is currently closed from Yale to Sheridan. We ask motorists to please avoid the area and take alternate routes. The Bixby
Police Department sends our condolences to the family of the deceased.

The Bixby Police Department is investigating a collision that occurred in the area of 151" Street and Hudson Ave. Emergency personnel are on-scene, and the roadway is currently closed on both directions of travel at 151* St. from Yale to Sheridan. We ask motorists to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
