The North Dakota APEX Accelerator provides cost-free government contracting help to North Dakota businesses interested in selling their goods or services to local, state, or federal agencies. Match funding is provided by the North Dakota Department of Commerce.

Tip of the Month: Terminations for Convenience and Federal Subcontracts

The federal government can terminate most contracts for convenience, but prime contractors do not automatically have that same right with subcontractors. Because FAR termination for convenience clauses are not mandatory flow-downs, prime contractors should make sure their subcontract agreements include clear termination language when needed.

SAM stands for System for Award Management. It is the federal government’s official registration system for businesses that want to do business with the U.S. government.

An active SAM registration is required to receive federal awards. Businesses can also use SAM.gov to maintain their registration information and search for information about organizations registered with the federal government.

Understanding SAM is an important step for businesses preparing to enter the federal marketplace.
