Congrats to our newest Deputy that has completed the In-House and Field Training Program!

Deputy T. Jacobson has his first solo shifts this week before heading to the Police Academy this summer. Jacobson and his recruit class have been in training since January. As a former Marine, we are grateful for his continued service to this country and now to Burleigh County.

Successful recruits must clear a background investigation and will attend a four week in-house training course followed by a two and half month Field Training Program. Start date for this position is slated for 7-6-26.

Approximately 50% of our Deputy Sheriffs began their career in our jail. We also offer 100% tuition reimbursement for two year Associate's degrees for employees desiring this and 75% for Bachelor's degrees. This is for employees who pursue a degree while employed and are off of probation.
