We would love to see you at North High Shoals Park for our Annual Summer Bash on Saturday, August 10th from 4-6! Come celebrate the end of summer with games, food, and fun! We've added a water slide this year to combat this wicked heat, and of course some yummy snow cones. As usual, all are welcome for this FREE community event!

Happy Independence Day!

Did you know the town of High Shoals was incorporated in 1902 and 31 years later a new charter was established incorporating all land on the north side of the Apalachee River, located in Oconee County, and named North High Shoals?

Does anyone know who was the first Mayor of North High Shoals?

Please be safe and have a great holiday!

Late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning our town mailbox on Jefferson Rd. was broken in to. According to the Oconee County Georgia Sheriff's Office deputy on site, the same thing occurred at the Bishop Mailbox during that same time frame.

This violation of our town sense of safety is not welcome. As a "Small Town with a Big Heart" we are thoughtful of the circumstances that led this lost individual or individuals to do such a thing and we hope that they find a straightened path, but please understand we are not interested in that type of activity in our town. We are a town that truly has a "Big Heart", has a long history of looking after each other and we are honored to call Town of North High Shoals home. We also know our neighbors in Town of Bishop feel the same way about their town.

Should you have any information about this incident, please let our sheriffs office know.

This story absolutely falls under our new hashtag!

Recently one of our council members Eric and his wife Lori were driving down Rays Church Rd. back into town when they came across a distinguished member of our community walking alone in the cemetery with only a halter on. This individual (we’ll call him “Ray” to protect his identity) is usually a homebody so it was strange to see him out. The couple stopped and Eric slowly approached Ray as he was making his way towards the fire station to possibly ask for help. After a short conversation about where he was going and why, and a little ear scratching and a nose rub, Ray was open to the idea of walking back home. So, he and Eric set off back down Rays Church at a slow pace while Lori followed in the car to block traffic. Halfway home Oconee County Georgia Sheriff's Office Deputy Worsham stopped to lend a hand and the three walked apprehensively the rest of the way while Lori went home to unload groceries. Reunited with his dad (owner), Ray thanked everyone for their help and promised not to run away again. And if it couldn’t get any better, Eric caught a ride home in the back of Deputy Worsham’s squad car!

Make sure to wave at “Ray” when you’re travelling down Rays Church and if you see Deputy Worsham, thank him for keeping us and our livestock safe.
