Look at what we were standing on yesterday.
This is the soil where Rosa Parks refused to move. Where Jo Ann Robinson stayed up through the night running off the flyers that called the boycott. Where Coretta Scott King made a home in a house that kept getting bombed and rebuilt — because the Black women who built this movement are mountains.
This is also the Capitol where, just days ago, the leaders of this state voted in the middle of the night to throw out maps the federal courts had drawn. To take back what Black voters in Alabama had only just won.
I came from Birmingham to Montgomery yesterday to say what my city already knows: We have done harder things than this. With less than we had. Against worse odds than these.
And we won.
The District 54 primary is in two days. Polls open Tuesday, 7 to 7.
We who believe in freedom cannot rest.

Labor workers and their families are the backbone of Alabama. I see this everyday with some of my closest family members being members of unions. I am honored to have the endorsement of the Alabama Labor Federation and the United Mine Workers Of America.
