The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office joined the Jefferson County Department of Health, Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association, participating fire departments, and the Birmingham Police Department for the launch of the Leave Behind Program.

This new initiative provides overdose-response kits and connects individuals with treatment, recovery, and support services following overdose-related emergency calls.

We are proud to be part of this collaborative effort to expand access to lifesaving resources and help reduce overdose deaths throughout our communities.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted Operation Safe Harbor July 27–31, 2026, with one mission: protect our children.

This operation focused on combating the sexual exploitation of children and holding offenders accountable through aggressive enforcement efforts to identify and arrest offenders, protect children from exploitation, and help restore hope within our communities.

At JCSO, protecting our most vulnerable remains a priority. We will continue working to keep Jefferson County’s children and families safe.

Last Friday, I had the honor of watching Session 74 walk across the stage and complete an important chapter in their law enforcement journey. This week, they’re back in their communities, putting their training into action and serving the citizens who depend on them.

I’m proud of each of these graduates and wish them a safe and successful career as they continue to serve with professionalism, integrity, and purpose.
