Crochet Stars Workshop
Amanda Banks
Saturday, September 26, 2:00 PM-5:00 PM

Learn to make a galaxy of crochet stars with artist Amanda Banks! In this three-hour workshop, Banks will teach you everything you need to know about making crochet stars, including the five foundational crochet stitches, how to work in the round, and how to finish a project. All experience levels are welcome (even beginners), and all materials are provided. Space is limited – please reserve your place by clicking link in bio or call 205-226-3728. Banks’ dress is featured in "Embodied: Contemporary Takes on the Dress," an exhibition currently on view in the Fourth Floor Gallery.

Amanda Banks is an artist and research professional based in Huntsville, Alabama. Her practice merges a multidisciplinary education in engineering, global business, and textiles to create thought-provoking work about labor and care. Amanda is a 2026 South Arts Emerging Traditional Artist, VP of Special Projects for the Alabama Women’s Caucus for Art, and Craft Yarn Council certified instructor with more than 30 years of crochet experience.

This workshop is made possible in part by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
