Save the date! The 2027 Summit of Excellence will be held April 14–15 in Downtown Decatur.

The Summit of Excellence is Main Street Alabama’s annual gathering for the people working to revitalize the state's downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts. It’s two days of learning, sharing ideas and seeing what’s happening in the host community.

We’re excited for the Decatur Downtown Redevelopment Authority to host next year.

🌟Main Street Alabama Grant Recipient Project: Downtown Speaker System

Music is in the air! With a $20,000 Main Street Alabama grant, Main Street Elba installed a new outdoor speaker system throughout the downtown square.

The project placed audio equipment on 20 existing light poles across the area, creating a system that can play background music, share public announcements, and support downtown events. The result is a more welcoming atmosphere for residents, visitors, and anyone spending time in the district.

Projects like this show how small infrastructure upgrades can make a big difference in how a downtown feels and functions. Main Street Alabama is proud to invest in communities like Elba and support projects that help bring people together in the heart of downtown.
