The South Carolina A. Philip Randolph Institute, in association with CUBN, is proud to celebrate Marquita Fair, City Administrator for the City of Chester, for her leadership, partnership and commitment to our workforce initiative.

Ms. Fair was instrumental in helping us ensure that Scout Motors had safe lodging and the support necessary for its first workforce engagement in Chester.

And then came the storm.

Despite severe weather and the tremendous responsibility facing the city that day, Chester officials still showed up. They supported the event, welcomed our partners and demonstrated what real community leadership looks like.

The Scout Motors at Chester Workforce Summit was a wonderful success because Chester believed in what we were working to accomplish: connecting people with careers, preparation and opportunity.

Here’s to Chester, South Carolina. Thank you for believing in our workforce initiative, for believing in your people, and for being such an important partner in this work.

And to Ms. Marquita Fair, please accept our deepest appreciation. We could not have done it without you.

A special thank you to our regional Director Allen Rouse Jr for showing up at the labor rally in Summerville South Carolina today with other organizers, including candidates for public office. Most prominently featured is Sylvia Wright who is running for superintendent of education for the state of South Carolina.
