Jefferson County has been placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7 pm Tonight

Jefferson County is now in a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather this evening. Threats include damaging winds up to 60 MPH and brief, isolated tornadoes. With the amount of rain we have received over the past few days, it will not take much to knock down some trees. The timing window as of now is 6PM through 11PM tonight. Please make sure you have multiple, reliable ways to receive warnings during the overnight hours.

In addition to severe chances, we are also under a slight risk (Level 2 of 4) for flooding. Never drive on flooding roadways; if you encounter one, please "Turn around and Don't Drown."

Dangerous and life-threatening flooding is occurring across portions of the area. Travel is strongly discouraged unless you are evacuating from a flood-prone location or under an evacuation order.
