Rolanda Hollis For District 2

Rolanda Hollis For District 2 Hi I am campaigning for Birmingham City Council District 2 because “You Count”. We need a representation to be our Voice, Visibility, & Communication

As you know I have a spirit for volunteerism and activism in my community. I am campaigning for Birmingham City Council District 2 because “You Count”. We need a representation to be our Voice, someone Visible throughout the community and able to Communicate our concerns back to City Hall for a better tomorrow. I have been a resident of District 2 since 1975. I am a product of Birmingham City School System attending elementary, middle and high school in the district graduating from Huffman High School in 1985. I am a 1990 graduate of Tuskegee University where I receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1991. I began my career as an Auditor with a Public Accounting firm in the city auditing entities such as the City of Birmingham, Birmingham Board of Education, Jefferson County Board of Education, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. Starting in 1994, I served as the Budget Director at Talladega College where I oversaw millions of dollars in grants. I became a licensed REALTOR in 1996 but continued to work as an Auditor. In 1996, I started working for Lawson State Community College as an Internal Auditor where I remained until 1998. Today, I am actively involved in my career as a licensed REALTOR. I am a local and state Director for Birmingham Association of REALTORS (BAR), and the Alabama Association of REALTORS (AAR). I have chaired the BAR Public Relations, Membership Committee and served an appointed 3 year term to the MLS Committee. I serve on the Activities Committee and am a Past President of the Women Council of REALTORS (WCR) where I was voted REALTOR of the Year. I am an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) and a Certified Real Estate Sales Associate (CRS). I am actively volunteering with the Neighborhood Housing Services of the City of the Birmingham conducting home buying seminars. I am an active member with the Arthritis Foundation, Trustee of First Baptist Church of Kingston. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. My experiences have prepared me to make a change in District 2. I understand the need for a better education for our children. I understand that we need economic development and new quality businesses back in our community in order to bring jobs back to the District which will revitalize our District. It is important that we work together to keep our streets safe for our children and elderly. Lastly, all districts must unite in order to help Birmingham reach its full potential. Thanks you in advance for your support.
