BPD VCAT Arrests Additional Suspect in 2024 Hush Lounge Quadruple Homicide/Mass Shooting Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports that 22-year-old Aaron Jones-Turpin has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder and 17 counts of Assault 1st Degree in connection with the quadruple homicide and mass shooting that occurred on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue South in
Birmingham.
Four people were murdered, and 17 others were injured by gunfire during the incident.
On Friday, September 11, 2026, Birmingham Police Department’s Violent Crime
Apprehension Team (VCAT) located Jones-Turpin in the 100 block of Brown Street in
Fyffe, Alabama, and took him into custody.
“This was a devastating moment for our city,” said Chief of Police Michael Pickett. “We have never forgotten the victims, their families, or the lives that were forever changed by this senseless violence. The Birmingham Police Department never stops working on cases. Time does not diminish our commitment to justice, and we will continue to pursue every lead and follow every piece of evidence necessary to hold those responsible accountable. Today’s arrest is another example of our unwavering dedication to seeking justice for the victims and their families. We will continue this work until every person responsible is held accountable.”
Jones-Turpin will be transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he will be held on
No Bond.
