6th Battalion, Army Reserve Careers Group This is the 6th Battalion Army Reserve Careers Group Alumni This is the official page of the 6th Battalion, Army Reserve
Careers Division.

The Battalion is responsible for increasing and
sustaining the strength of the Army Reserve in the States of Louisiana,
Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. The Battalion Headquarters is located in
Birmingham, AL and it has over 150 Army Reserve Career Counselors located
throughout the Battalion's area of responsibility. The majority of our
force is responsible for career counseling and retention of

Army Reserve
personnel and transitioning Soldiers and Officers from the Individual Ready
Reserve to Army Reserve units. However, the Battalion also has Accession
Career Counselors who specialize in assisting individuals with prior
military service with enlistment into the Army Reserve and Officer Accession
NCO's who are responsible for assisting enlisted Army Reserve Soldiers
become Officers and Warrant Officers

It’s been an eventful week within 6th BN! From QTB to RLC saying goodbye to a phenomenal Area Leader, MSG Dervaes, as he heads to Marysville, WA. Area 8 was presented with ARCGs FY25 Q3 top Area for FT and CAR. Also we are proud to announce the appointment of MSG Chancy Hunter and MSG Ephraim Varela to the rank of 1SG as our BN begins the pilot program of a Company structure. We also promoted SFC Elliott Harrold and SFC Joseph Palomino to the rank of MSG. Red Lions Lead the Way!

Dear Red Lions,

As we head into Thanksgiving, we want to pause and thank you. You strengthen the Army Reserve every day by shaping careers, building readiness, and investing in the future of our formations.

This year demanded a lot with a relentless pace, high standards, and constant change. You still showed up with heart and genuine commitment to our Soldiers and families.

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Sergeant First Class April Neiderhiser to the esteemed rank of Master Sergeant!
The ceremony, held on October 1st at the 6th Battalion Headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, was officiated by Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Strong and Command Sergeant Major Laqueena Carmack, both of whom spoke to MSG Neiderhiser’s exceptional leadership, dedication, and impact throughout her military career.

💥 HHC, 926 Engineer Battalion brought the heat during their August Battle Assembly (10AUG25) at Green Springs ARC with a high-energy Section Competition designed to strengthen unit cohesion across all staff sections.

🪖 Soldiers competed in four challenging events:

M4 disassembly/reassembly (Army standard: 2:30 or faster)

Map reading: plotting 6 points accurately

Care under fire

SINGAR radio setup and radio check in an M1165 HMMWV

🏆 Top performers will form a squad to represent at the Brigade-level Best Squad Competition—with eyes on advancing to the 412 TEC Best Squad!

Today, the 6th battalion headquarters served as the venue for an American Red Cross Blood Drive, orchestrated by SFC Darna to support the local community and mitigate the blood shortage.

Our objective was to secure 17 donations through scheduled appointments and walk-ins; we successfully exceeded this objective, accumulating 21 donations.
