In observance of Labor Day, City of Birmingham offices will be closed TODAY, Sept.7th, 2026. City business will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8th. Birmingham police will be on duty to respond to calls for service and ensure the community’s safety. For immediate assistance, please utilize the following resources:

The Birmingham Police Department is currently auctioning bicycles that have been at our facility and have gone unclaimed. Interested bidders may go to www.govdeals.com to view available options.

The bicycles will remain up for auction until September 14th, 2026, at 8:00am. Any questions or comments may be addressed through the GovDeals listing.

Too many pedestrians and uninformed operators have been injured across the State of Michigan. We want everyone to enjoy these devices safely, so please ride responsibly, know the rules, and obey traffic laws.

It doesn’t matter what term is used, if a person is drunk, wasted or high, he or she is impaired. Driving while impaired by any substance is illegal and can be deadly. If you’re impaired, find a sober driver. If you feel different, you drive different.

With students heading back to school, it is important drivers remember school bus safety.

🚌Watch your speed in school zones
🛑Never pass a stopped school bus
👀Be aware of the danger zones around a school bus as children may be difficult to see in early morning hours

In every state, it's illegal to pass a school bus while the stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing. Officers will be watching for violations to keep everyone safe.
