CASA of Jefferson County The mission of CASA of Jefferson County is to be the voice for children who have been victims of abu Judges are eager to appoint CASA volunteers to their cases.

Child abuse and neglect is the leading reason children and families come to the attention of the child welfare system. In 2011, nearly 3,000 dependency petitions were filed in Jefferson County Family Court. Currently, we can only serve 10-20% of the dependency petitions on the docket in Family Court. CASA volunteers investigate the circumstances around a specific case and offer an additional layer

of protection so abused and neglected children are not further victimized. All children need and derserve a family for life.

CASA spent the morning at the City of Birmingham Parks and Recreation ‘s Fishing Rodeo. The event has been going on for 26 years! The sunshine and smiling faces made for a perfect day.
