Birmingham Civitan Club The Birmingham Civitan Club is a service organization founded in 1917 that emphasizes helping people with brain disorders and developmental disabilities.

The club sponsors the UAB Civitan International Research Center. The Civitan Club was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1917. Its founder and first president was Dr. Courteny W. Shropshire, a prominent Birmingham physician. As a result the Birmingham Civitan Club is now known as the 'Mother Club of Civitan International'. Civitan International is a worldwide community service organization of men,

women and students in 32 countries on four continents joining together to perform community service projects. VISITORS ARE WELCOME AT OUR MEETINGS.

This summer our club took on the responsibility of being the snack sponsor of the month for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama Family Room!The RMHCA Family Room is located at UAB Hospital and serves as an escape for families with babies in the NICU. We are proud to partner with this great organization and support those families in this way!

Members volunteered today to set up for Exceptional Prom, a dance event for students in the special education programs at Jefferson County Schools. More than 600 students are expected tomorrow at the Finley Center. We are Civitan!
